Frequently Asked Questions
Will my picture look good on canvas?
Our image enhancement process allows us to make almost every picture into an amazing canvas print.
If, however, we do receive an image that is too small to print well at the desired size, we will contact you before printing. You can also send us an email (address above) with the image attached and we’ll let you know the recommended range of canvas sizes for that picture.
What is a wrapped canvas print?
The most popular canvas printing option is to have your canvas wrapped around a solid wooden frame. We offer three sizes of frames (3/4 inch wrap, 1 ½ inch wrap, and 2 ½ inch wrap). The larger the wrap size, the further the canvas will project on the wall. The most popular wrap types are the standard wrap (3/4 inch) and the gallery wrap (1 ½ inch).
We also print images directly to canvas without wrapping them. If you are getting your canvas printed with the intention of wrapping it yourself or locally, please let us know and we can prepare the canvas for a successful wrap.
Should I pick gloss, matte, or no varnish for my canvas?
The choice between gloss, matte, or no varnish on your canvas print is both a matter of personal preference and function.
Gloss Varnish: Gloss gives the canvas a very slight shine and highlights the color. It also serves as a protective coating adding durability to your canvas.
Matte Varnish: Matte varnish dulls the effect of sunlight on your canvas and serves as a protective coating to increase the durability of the canvas print.
No Varnish: Some customers prefer that no varnish be applied to the canvas. This is an uncommon choice and most customers choose this if they are going to apply their own varnish.
Most customers choose gloss varnish. If you are unsure of the varnish you want on your canvas, we generally recommend gloss unless the canvas is going to be placed in hard direct light.
How do I know what my canvas is going to look like when it arrives?
The canvas preview tool at RoyalCanvas allows you to place your photo onto the canvas and get an immediate and accurate 3D image of what your canvas will look like once it is printed and wrapped.
If I order today, how long until my canvas ships?
The production time for a canvas averages 3 to 5 business days depending on the season and volume. We do everything we can to get the canvases printed and shipped as fast as possible while also maintaining the highest quality standards.
Transit time once the canvas is shipped varies according to location. We ship canvases from Virginia. US canvas orders ship via Fedex and delivery is within 5 days to almost every location.
For Canadian canvases we use both Fedex and USPS depending on the region. Most canvases arrive within 7 to 10 days of shipping. When shipping to Canada there is always the chance of a customs inspection which can delay delivery.
What is the cost of shipping?
Shipping to the USA is 14.99 for Fedex Ground if the canvas is 24 x 36 inches or smaller. For large canvas prints over 24 x 36 inches, the price for Fedex Ground is 29.98. All shipping prices are flat rate - there is no additional shipping fee for more than 1 print. For shipments to canada Fedex International Ground is 19.99. If the canvas is unwrapped, the price of shipping is 9.99 to the USA and Canada.
What if I am not happy with my canvas when it arrives?
